Meet the founder
Kiing Quah
Founder/Lead Instructor, hip hop
Kiing began his journey into dance in his early 20s, breakdancing with friends in the basement of an apartment. Initially, it was just a hobby, but it soon became a passion and career. My main expertise lies in hip hop and choreography, with additional experience in styles like popping, locking, waacking, and krumping.
In 2011, Kiing founded Unity Dance Academy to bring together dance and music enthusiasts and to nurture emerging talent. Teaching dance is a profound joy for Kiing. He loves coaching students, not just in dance but also in sharing life experiences that help them grow. He has led group showcases, competed in national competitions and trained with top choreographers like Rie Hata.
Meet the Team
Kiing
Kiing has been in the Street Dance scene for more than 20 years, constantly striving to create fresh choreography. Teaching has become his new passion especially when he sees the progress of younger kids in hip hop and other dance styles.
Liyan
Liyan specialises in Afro choreography and Waacking. Since joining Unity in 2017, she's honed her skills through teaching and live performances, including a top 10 placement at the KL Life Fest Open Showcase 2023.
Joey
Joey started with Latin dance at age 7 before transitioning to hip hop choreography, Joey often incorporates elements of Latin, Afro, and Girl Style dance to create a unique fusion.
Emylia
Emylia began dancing in kindergarten with ballet before training in street dance. Unity Dance Academy is her sanctuary, where everyone shares the same passion for dance.
Yan Tong
Yan Tong began dancing casually in 2019 but quickly turned into a passionate pursuit. Teaching allows Yan Tong to share her passion in hip hop and encourage students to express their emotions through movement.
Qiao Ying
For Qiao Ying, dance brings joy, confidence and a reprieve from life's stress. She's also grateful to have fostered treasured friendships and join live performances, like making it to top 10 at the KL Life Fest Open Showcase 2023.
